About Dewdrop

A preschool and early learning centre for children aged 2 to 5, opening its doors in January 2027.

Our story

Dewdrop has been alive for a long time as an idea and a way of caring for children. Now it finally has a home of its own. Behind it is a founding couple with a background in education and a genuine love for children.

What drives them is simple. Every child should feel special, seen, and heard, and no child should ever feel less than or left out.

What families can expect

Above all, Dewdrop is a safe space. Here, children are supported in every part of who they are, so they can grow into the best version of themselves and carry that with them through the life that lies ahead.

What we believe

We believe early childhood is a season of wonder. Our approach is gentle, play-led, and rooted in kindness, giving each child room to grow at their own pace.

a note for you

A letter from our founders

Come a little closer. We wrote you something.

We’ve always been the aunty and uncle.

The ones who notice the quiet child in the corner.
The ones who turn cardboard into castles.
The ones who believe simple things should feel like magic.

Together, we’re building the kind of place we always wished every child had.

A place where children feel safe. Loved. Capable. Confident. Like they are enough, exactly as they are. Free to play and be kids.

We called it Dewdrop for a reason. Dewdrops are soft and gentle. But they’re also how every beautiful day begins. Small. Quiet. And full of life.

That’s what we want for every child here.

When you walk through our doors, our hope is simple. That you leave feeling lighter. Confident that your child is safe, cared for, and growing. Not just in books, but as a whole little person.

All children are welcome here. No exceptions.

With love,
The Josephs 💚

Meet our principal

Faeeka Carlsen, Principal of Dewdrop Educare

Faeeka Carlsen

Principal · BA in Psychology, PGCE

Faeeka is the heart of Dewdrop. With more than twenty years of teaching experience, including years leading as a Head of Department, she brings a depth of knowledge and a steady, caring hand to everything at the centre. She holds a BA in Psychology and a PGCE. She loves the outdoors and believes children should play every chance they get, and somehow there is not a child who does not end up stuck to her side like glue. That says everything about the gentle, joyful place she is helping to create.

Meet our coach

Sulaiman Kannemeyer, Coach at Dewdrop Educare

Sulaiman Kannemeyer

Coach · Level 1 and Level 2 certified

Sulaiman brings the joy of sport to Dewdrop. A Level 1 and Level 2 certified coach, he leads all of our sports and knows just how much confidence, teamwork, and fun a little sport can add to a child's day. Rugby may be his own great love, but his real gift is with children. A father himself, he has a natural, easy way with little ones. Understanding how important active play is in these early years, he will soon become a familiar, friendly face to our families and children.

Meet the teaching staff

Our teaching team is being handpicked right now. We are taking our time to gather the very best: nurturing, qualified educators who share our gentle, play-led spirit, so that every child is in caring, capable hands. Their friendly faces will appear here soon.
